On Wednesday, December 6, 2023, there were claims on social media purporting that the leader  of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama had promised to provide allowances to children between the ages of two (2) and eighteen (18) when he becomes President.

The claim has been widely circulated, including by an account on the X app known as @NewsGH360. The claim included a photograph of the Former President with wording that stated, ‘I Will Pay Allowances to Every Ghanaian Child from Age 2 to 18 in My Next Government.’ 

 These claims are alleged to be purposeful fabrications meant to mislead the people and expose the leader of the NDC to mockery.

Political fact Ghana can confirm following careful review that the claim is false and misleading, and to set the record straight, H. E the Former President John Dramani Mahama has never made such risky and damaging comments.
