On Friday, November 24, 2023, reports surfaced on social media claiming that Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has said he will cancel E-levy when he is President.
The assertion has been extensively shared, notably by an account on the X app, @_GhanaNews. The claim contained an image of Dr Bawumia with text where he said, ‘I will cancel E-levy when voted into power in 2024, the false claim has then gained traction within the least amount of time.
Such remarks are believed to be deliberate deceptions intended to misinform the public in order to put the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) up for ridicule.
Following far-reaching checks, Political Fact Ghana can confirm that the aforementioned assertion, which has made waves on numerous social media platforms mainly X, is untrue and deceptive.
The Vice President who is also the flagbearer of the ruling NPP has not said anything of the sort hence treat such claim as falsehood when you chance upon it.
